InnerWireless provides a unified wireless platform – a passive
wireless distribution system – as the foundation for your
wireless environment. This platform is considered the most reliable
of its kind – there has never been an operational failure
of this passive system. The platform is a coaxial-based, neutral
host, broadband antenna system designed for the transmission of
multiple Radio Frequency (RF) signals simultaneously over a passive
antenna infrastructure.
The infrastructure accommodates a broad range of wireless services including two-way radio, first responder radio, paging, cellular and PCS, and WiFi. This broadband architecture allows for scalable solutions across a wide range of customer wireless requirements.
The
platform is organized as follows:
-
Wide Area
(building) services: cellular/PCS, paging, two-way radio
and first responder base stations are connected to the distribution
system via the Wireless Portal.
- Building distribution:The
Wireless Portal combines these signal inputs onto a single vertical
riser cable, which is then distributed throughout the venue.
InnerWireless’ proprietary technology and other carefully
selected components are used to deliver precise quantities of
RF power to floors or other subdivisions to assure uniform coverage
throughout the building.
- Local Area services: WiFi
(802.11 a/b/g) service, and potentially other local area services,
are combined with building-based services to provide coverage
segments: areas ranging between 5,000 sq ft and 20,000 sq ft,
depending on the specific wireless services and signal levels
required. Segments are custom-designed to meet specific service,
coverage and signal level requirements, depending on the particular
building design, floor layouts and structural impediments.
- Segment distribution:
InnerWireless analyzes the specific physical environment
and carefully selects and locates antenna elements to ensure
that both building and local area services meet the customer’s
needs for coverage and signal level.
All of the components that make up the platform (including the
Wireless Portal, vertical riser cables, horizontal distribution
cables, and broad-band antennas) are passive and require no electrical
power, software or ongoing monitoring and have been designed for
many years of reliable and unattended operation.
For multi-building campuses or very large buildings, the platform
is expanded through the use of fiber optics. Building-based service
equipment (e.g., a base station) is connected to the Wireless
Portal in the first building. RF optical repeaters are used to
extend the building-based services to each of the adjacent buildings
where they are connected to the Wireless Portal serving that building.
Segment level services are implemented in additional buildings
as needed. In this manner, the platform can be extended to create
a system of virtually any size and capacity.
