VoWiFi Handset From Ascom (US) Inc. Passes InnerWireless Interoperability Tests

Positive analysis in Wireless Solutions Lab demonstrates reliable handset operation on InnerWireless in-building wireless system

RICHARDSON, Texas –Feb. 20, 2007 –InnerWireless, Inc., leading provider of in-building wireless solutions, today announced that it has given interoperability approval to the Voice Over Wireless Fidelity (VoWiFi) portable handset from Ascom (US) Inc. (Ascom).  This demonstrates the strength and reliability of Ascom’s VoWiFi portable handsets when operating on InnerWireless’ Wireless Utility – known as Horizon – a distributed antenna system that supports a wide range of applications and devices.

Ascom provides reliable telephone and messaging systems to increase efficiency and cut response time to industries, including healthcare, education, automotive and security.

The InnerWireless Wireless Solutions Lab evaluates and verifies the connectivity of devices and applications on the Wireless Utility to ensure trouble-free operation.  InnerWireless documents the lab findings – both positive and negative – and provides the information to the vendor so adjustments can be made for the benefit of end-users.  With interoperability approval from InnerWireless, Ascom can assure customers that its handsets are dependable and have uninterrupted indoor signals by leveraging the InnerWireless infrastructure.

“We’ve recognized that InnerWireless is a very strong player in the healthcare market and frequently are asked if our product works on their wireless platform,” said Tom McKearney, vice president of marketing and business development for Ascom.  “Our clinical VoWiFi handsets allow clinicians to quickly communicate and offer better patient care, which increases hospital productivity and patient safety.  These are the same qualities that InnerWireless provides to its customers.  Ascom is pleased to have passed the rigorous InnerWireless testing and looks forward to developing a strong future relationship with InnerWireless.”

While Ascom and InnerWireless currently focus their relationship on the healthcare industry, the interoperability tests demonstrate the ability for both systems to work together in enterprises such as hotels, casinos and airports.

“Providing our customers with the best possible indoor wireless coverage is crucial to InnerWireless,” said Chris McCoy, senior vice president of corporate development at InnerWireless.  “The Wireless Solutions Lab allows us to determine which solutions perform the best on our Wireless Utility.  By providing interoperability approval to Ascom’s VoWiFi portable handset, we are demonstrating to our customers that the products they select are dependable on our infrastructure.”

With the deployment of Horizon, its Medical-grade Wireless Utility, InnerWireless has brought whole-house wireless solutions to more than 60 leading hospitals across the United States.
